What materials is an infrared heater made from?

Materials play a vital role in any product you purchase. Quite often we forget to look at the materials that are used to manufacture an item. But it is important to make sure we are spending our money on products made from durable and sustainable materials, which will help the item last longer. All materials have specific properties that impact how items are used and function.

Below are the two main materials that we use in the production of our infrared heating panels.

1. Aluminium

At Kiasa, we ensure the use of long-lasting and enduring materials to produce our heaters. Our infrared panels and heater bars are made from aluminium. Aluminium is one of the most common metals and it’s used everywhere around us. From aluminium tin cans to the structures within the buildings - we have come to depend on this metal!

Aluminium has a long lifespan thanks to its durability, guaranteeing our heaters’ longevity. It is also a good heat conductor, which will heat your rooms up faster and reduce energy usage. This, paired with the way infrared heats a room through radiant heating, is what we would consider a perfect match.

Using aluminium is a better option for our planet. First and foremost, aluminium is one of, if not the, easiest metals to recycle. It can be recycled into the same product, such as turning a gearbox back into a gearbox, or it can be used to make something completely new, such as turning a window frame out of a vehicle part.

Recycled aluminium uses 95% less energy than aluminium produced from raw sources; this is a significant distinction that cannot be overlooked. The fact that it cuts greenhouse gas emissions from the main production process by 97% also draws attention to itself.

2. Polyethene Glycol Terephthalate (PET)

The front part of our infrared panels is made from PET (polyethene glycol terephthalate). Some popular products that are made from recycled PET include PET bottles and jars, fiberfill for winter jackets, automotive parts, construction materials, protective packaging, and carpet.

PET plastic is one of the most recyclable materials that is used worldwide. 70% of bottled water, carbonated soft drinks, fruit juices, and dilutable beverages are packaged with PET. This PET plastic is robust and long-lasting. The majority of products can be used repeatedly. It is also transparent, making it extremely adaptable for various purposes. It is resealable and simple to seal since it is easy to mould into any form.

PET plastic is a secure and hygienic material. Due to the makeup of PET, it does not react when in contact with either food or liquids. It is a stable and risk-free material since it can withstand attacks from germs. Boards for health and safety, which consist of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), and the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) (FDA), have approved PET for these reasons. PET can help firms reach their sustainability goals and attract environmentally sensitive customers.

In an age of sustainable shopping, increased climate awareness, and heightened energy costs, finding solutions that meet those needs is important. At Kiasa, we are proud to use sustainable materials for our infrared heating systems. Explore our website or get in touch to find out how our infrared heaters can work for you.
