Want the Perfect Temperature-Controlled Nursery? You Need Infra-Red!

ot so many years ago, in the days before central heating, one of the big problems with little babies was ensuring they were warm enough in a world where everybody wore jumpers indoors. Now the situation has been flipped 180° and the challenge can be keeping them cool enough in an environment where most people expect to walk around the house in tee-shirts. That’s where Infra-Red heating panels can really help in maintaining a temperature-controlled environment in the nursery.

What’s the Ideal Room Temperature for the Nursery?

Babies, especially newborns, can’t regulate their body temperatures as well as adults. Most experts agree that the ideal ambient temperature for a baby’s room is between 18° - 20° C. That temperature range is below the typical setting for most centrally heated homes, which is around 22°-23° C, but keeping a baby slightly cooler is safer.

Of course controlling central heating is all about where you have your thermostat. One way of controlling the temperature is to install thermostatic valves onto your radiators. They work perfectly fine but still have the same old, same old, challenge of radiators being slow to heat a space as the warmth has to rise before it gets to floor level.

What’s the Problem With Thermostatic Radiator Valves?

From the outset thermostatic valves aren’t cheap – smart wi-fi ones come in at around £55-60 apiece. In addition you really need to call-in a plumber to install them, so depending on how many you have installed the cost can approach £150-200. Most manufacturers also recommend that you have them serviced every 12 months – so there are additional costs to consider.

It’s Much Cheaper and More Efficient to Buy a Kiasa Infra-Red Panel for Your Nursery

A Kiasa Infra-Red heating panel hung on the wall next to the baby's bed, crib, or cot, will provide instant direct warmth the moment it is turned on. All panels are thermostatically controlled so can be set to say 19°C – half-way between the recommended 18°-20°C. Panels are operated from a Mobile Phone App via your home wi-fi. Temperatures can even be set in °F if you prefer your warmth delivered in old-school reckoning.

It's a simple system to operate. Each panel can be named and controlled independently so, if you have more than one IR heater in the home you can turn them on and off as and when, and where, required.
