Questions and answers
Can I use the SQ610RF thermostat on its own?
Not on its own, no. The SQ610RF is a battery radio thermostat, so it needs something to switch the heater for it: a Smart Relay 16A for hardwired panels, or a SP600 Smart Plug for plug-in ones. Add app control and schedules from your phone with the UG800 gateway, which is included with every wireless system. The system builder pairs these for you so the basket is always compatible.
Should I choose SP600 or SR600?
It depends on how the heater is powered. Choose the SP600 Smart Plug for a heater that plugs into a socket — nothing to wire in. Choose the Smart Relay 16A (SR600) where the panel is wired into a fused spur, which is the usual case for a fixed Kore P-Series panel. Both switch one heating zone, so count one per zone you want to control separately.
Do I need a UG800 with the wired SQ610?
Only if you want it online. The wired SQ610 works perfectly well on its own at the wall: set the schedule on the thermostat and it runs without any gateway or internet. Add the UG800 gateway when you want the app, remote changes and holiday control. The system builder asks you this as "Control from anywhere?" and adds the gateway only if you say yes.
Can I mix smart plugs and smart relays?
Yes. Both talk to the same UG800 gateway, so one system can run plug-in heaters and hardwired panels side by side, each as its own zone. Mixing is common in a home where one room has a socket and another is wired in. Note that a smart plug always needs the gateway, so choosing one rules out a local-only, gateway-free setup. Work it out in the system builder, or call us and we will walk through it with you.
